My big move this weekend was finishing my foyer. This is what my foyer looked like initially
I know awful! I did this when I first got into painting, during that time I so proud of it. Then one day a freakin frog got into my house, I was pissed because it was difficult to detect whether or not the frog was on the wall with all those silly designs! After that I decided I would never put all of those colors on my wall again. Oh, the frog was on the floor leaping towards the bedroom... my friend got rid of it. Sorry frog lovers... but it was either me or the frog.
If you read my earlier blog I showed where my son was home over the Christmas holidays he primed the walls, door frames, trim and bookcase.
For the bookcase and walls I went with a soft blue (can't remember the name), with white trim. I had lots of books from my college days stored in my closet, I decided this was a good time to clear out my closet.
Years ago I had purchased these cute little gold & sliver picture frames that were 2-1/2" x 2".
It wasn't until after I purchased them I realized the problem with tiny frames is, unless you have them in a particular spot, nobody every bothers to look at them. I kept them on the bookcase, but because they're so tiny they were just lost. What's the point of having pictures out and nobody notices them? So, after visiting a few blogs I came across Lindsey's blog on her Layered Frame Gallery Wall. Her master bedroom is amazing, but I was in awe by her gallery wall. So, I immediately knew what I wanted to do.
I painted the frames with white homemade chalk paint, and then sanded them lightly allowing the gold and silver to peek through.
I then glued them on top of a strip of trim I had laying around, here's what it looked like

Sometime ago, I had some small mirrors on the dresser in my guest room - three of them had broken (no they didn't break at the same time), although I replaced them I always held onto the frames.
I took the frames, painted them white, glued one on top of the other and hung them on the wall
Perfect!
I had another small picture that I hung on the opposite end of the foyer.
I took the other frame, and hung it over the picture
There's no way you can walk past these pictures and not stop and look at them!
Who would have thought, something as simple as this could lend presence to my tiny pictures and artfully add life to my boring foyer...LET YOUR CREATIVITY FLOW!
