Candle Holders & Vase

In my previous blog (here) I mentioned I was making candle holders and vases (decorating) to give to colleagues for Christmas presents.  Initially I thought I was starting way to early, but now I'm glad I got an early start on things because it's going to take much longer than I anticipated.

If you missed my earlier blog (here) let me start from the beginning (guess I'm feeling a bit long winded)   LOL

I started off with a brandy snifter

I tore up tissue paper and glued it on... this is what it started to look like

After a day of letting it dry, I started the fun work, painting...

This is the first one I painted...

I painted the next snifter silver...and added some silver mica powder to give it a little sparkle.  Up close it sparkles in the light and shows off a blush sheen - unfortunately I couldn't pick up the sparkle in any of my pictures.  :-(

My next experiment was with a small vase (sorry no before picture) but this is what it looked like once I had it all 'tissued' up.

It took me approximately a week to finish 2 candle holders and 1 small vase.  I showed them off to a friend and he thinks I should start selling them... 

I have about 13 more to go; I'm glad I got a head start!  The holidays are approaching LET YOUR CREATIVITY FLOW!
